Fans of Doctor Who might have noticed that the season 8 episodes have been pretty dark in nature. We can thank Steven Moffat, of course, as he stated earlier this year that he was hoping to take the series to a different level with Peter Capaldi as the lead. On top of the dark nature, the BBC moved the air time to a later hour, thus garnering plenty of questions about whether or not the show is still suitable for children or not!

We haven't made much of change to Doctor Who since it came back in 2005," Moffat said earlier this year. "It's been the same show. It's maybe amped some things up and lowered some other things, but it's basically the same. I just feel it needs to be different, and it needs to be surprising again."

Surprising is one thing, but these new episodes are pretty dark! For instance, "Listen" was easily one of the scariest of the series and "Time Heist" and "Deep Breath" dealt a lot with death and more adult issues.

The Mirror posed the question to its British audience about the popular show and whether it's a bit too adult these days.

Visual horror such as that caused by the Daleks and the Cybermen (and those darn Weeping Angels) is one thing, but the psychological horror of playing on childhood fears over something lurking under your bed is a very different thing.

What do you think? Is Doctor Who not suitable for kids anymore?
