Season two of The Goldbergs premiered tonight on ABC and it was hilarious. "Love is a Mix Tape" touches upon the classic '80s love gesture of a mix tapes.

The season premiere begins with Adam remembering one of his best moments of the 1980s... his first kiss with Dana. In order to tell her how much he loves her Adam decides to make her a mix tape. As soon as he utters the words "mix tape," Barry swoops in to help. His top choices... Paula Abdul and Big Tasty aka himself.

Luckily, Adam doesn't listen to Barry and makes a mix tape perfect for his ladylove. Sadly, Beverly (Adam's mom) discovers the tape and thinks it is for her. She gets so excited that she calls Adam her favorite kid and agrees to take him to see Die Hard.

After grabbing the tape back (but not telling his mom the truth) Adam makes a copy of his tape and gives it to Dana. The two lovebirds have a date night and she explains that she loves him and the tape. They are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

Just when you thought the night was going on without a hitch, Adam's mom starts to play the mix tape on their drive home. Dana freaks out when she hears it and calls him out for giving them the same mix tape. Both women get mad at Adam and he is now in the doghouse with both women.

While Adam tries to get his girlfriend back, Erica takes Barry to get a fake ID. They go to the FotoFun shop and David Spade, who is the ultimate fake ID maker in town, helps them. Barry of coarse panics when he has to choose a name and tries to wear a hat in the picture. Once he finally gets his ID, he parades up and down the school halls telling everyone about it.

In a twist of fate, the seniors track him down and ask him to get them beer for their party, which would make Barry very cool for once. Barry agrees and flashes his ID as they walk away. Just then his coach walks up and confiscates his ID leaving him without any way to get the beer. Barry tries to trick his dad into helping, but his dad just says what he always does, "whatever you're up to, I'm not bailing you out."

Back at school, Adam tries to fix his girl problem with another mix tape, but Dana quickly turns him down. Because his life is now miserable at home too, Adam re-gifts the second tape and tries to win back his mom's love but she doesn't fall for it.

After talking to her father, Beverly decides to be the adult and forgive her son. She then takes it a step further and makes a plan to create a grand gesture on Adam's behalf and win back Dana. This had disaster written all over it from the beginning, but doesn't end bad at all. When Dana is in the light show, Adam bites the bullet and tells her once and for all that he loves her.

As soon as he shares his feelings, an adorable light show starts and "Adam and Dana" in a heart blasts across the screen. Dana takes Adam back and Adam realizes his mom still loves him and that they are back on good terms. It is super sweet and touching.

Back in Barry land, Barry tries to use his dad's license to purchase beer. Since his genius plan isn't so genius, Barry is turned down because the cashier knows his father. In one final attempt to be cool, Barry shows up to the party carrying sandwiches. Luckily, Murray shows up and pretends to yell at Barry for buying beer in front of the whole party, saving him from what would have been an embarrassing moment.

The episode ends with Pops paying a visit to the FotoFun store. He has a funny talk with David Spade and asks for a fake ID. He wants to trick a woman about his age and needs his help. The episode comes full circle with the oldest member of the Goldberg clan getting a new ID.

Tune in next week to see what happens in the '80s-inspired show.
