When Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United to join Real Madrid for a then world record transfer fee, it always looked likely that he'd make a return to Old Trafford one day. As rumours suggest he's unhappy, reports continue to suggest that a deal is in the works to bring the Portuguese star back to the English Premier League. However, it will not be cheap, despite Ronaldo approaching his later years. Reports are suggesting a deal is "near done" and will see United spent around $350 million in transfer fees, salary, bonuses and more. Is this a deal the Red Devils simply have to make?

The Red Devils have been on a huge spending spree as it is, but it's evident that they are in desperate need of defenders, and not more attack-minded players, however, a reunion with their one-time superstar appears too good to be true, meaning they may just pay every penny, but would he be worth it? United signed him in 2003, and then sold him in 2009, and it seems like United may be the only team prepared to pay these fees.

Teams like PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea are interested, but not at the huge price that's being discussed, meaning they're likely to give United no direct competition. That will leave the club with the tough decision of whether they can invest all of this money, and hope, on a 29-year-old player, albeit one of the best players in the world.

Should United use their wealth to bring Ronny back, or would they come to regret such a huge investment on a player they once owned?
