Every golf fan stops and enjoys the action when the Ryder Cup comes along. The competition pits Europe against USA, in what many consider to be the biggest sporting tournament in the world. With stars like Paul McGinley, Rory McIIroy, Keegan Bradley, Jimmy Walker, Zach Johnson, Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose all in action, it was always likely to be an incredible day of golf, and it was just that, with Europe taking a 5-3 opening day lead.

Europe were behind, but made a shockign comeback, ensuring they take the lead in to the second day of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. McGinley and his team finished strongly, showing that they can never be counted out. Rose and Stenson were the key men for Europe, with a 5&4 fourball victory against USA. McIIroy and his partner lost their morning fourball in a last-hole defeat.

McGinley knows how important today was for his team, and he explained "We have seen in Ryder Cups over the years how important momentum is and we showed real strength of character to respond to that American surge and get blue back on the board. It's been a great day, a lot of momentum, but let's take stock." USA's captain Tom Watson had his say too, explaining " I'm disappointed with the result but not the attitude. I told them in the locker room it is 5-3. You win two matches, you're back in it."

Will Europe hold on, or will team USA come back and win the Ryder Cup?
