Denzel Washington does it again! Every movie he touches seems to turn to gold. His new film, The Equalizer, was directed by the same director that helped him win the Academy Award in Training Day, Antoine Fuqua. It topped the box office with $12.6 million and could even hit a North American debut of $37 million.

Washington's best box office opening was with American Gangster, at $43.6 million. Though Sony predicted The Equalizer debut to reach $25–$30 million, they may be wrong, and for the good.

The Equalizer developed such a great following at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival last month that it's already in development of a sequel.

We definitely don't mind more Denzel.

With Washington's addictive swagger, the movie draws in women who can't get enough of the smooth talking handsome actor. Men don't mind him either, with his portrayals as a dirty cop in Training Day, a ruthless gangster in American Gangster and an insistent soldier in Manchurian Candidate, this film is most likely guaranteed to fill seats.

Washington plays Ben McCall, a black ops who faked his death to live a quite life. As he comes out of his somber lifestyle to save a young girl, he finds himself intertwined with Russian gangsters.

Nothing Denzel can't handle. This is why he's the Equalizer. Those who are helpless and hurt by the brutal will in turn be helped by Washington

This weekend's box office includes Laika's stop-motion animation, The Boxtrolls.

Expected to draw in $17 million this weekend, the movie had a $60 million budget, therefore the movie will need a lot more seats to fill to break even.

The Maze Runner, which was last weekend's No. 1 film, is expected to drop by 50 percent this weekend.
