Bill And Hillary Clinton Take First Pictures With Granddaughter Charlotte

Putting politics aside, Bill and Hillary Clinton are over the moon in welcoming their new granddaughter, who was born Sept. 26: Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky.

"At 7:03 PM on September 26^th, we finally met Charlotte," mother Chelsea Clinton, 34, wrote on her Twitter. "We're in love."

Hours after taking to Twitter to announce to the world that she had given birth, Chelsea Clinton posted a photo of her and her husband Marc Mezvinsky beaming down at their daughter, wrapped comfortably in the arms of her mother and sporting a pink hat.

The former 42nd president of the United States also took to social media to announce his love for his new granddaughter and the joy and excitement he has for his only child, Chelsea.

"Charlotte, your grandmother @HillaryClinton and I couldn't be happier!" he said, posting a picture of him and his wife overjoyed with the new baby.

The older Clintons also released a statement.

"We are blessed, grateful, and so happy to be the grandparents of a beautiful girl," they told Us Weekly in a statement Saturday. "We are thrilled to be with our daughter and her husband as they welcome their daughter into the world. Chelsea is well and glowing. Marc is bursting with pride. Charlotte's life is off to a good start."

Bill and Hillary Clinton have been verbal about their daughter's pregnancy. Bill Clinton has said to media outlets that he will not be meddling as a grandfather, but he will take on a helpful role.

"We need to be there in a supportive role," he said. "But we don't need to overstep."
