The Black List writer Christina Hodson's script for The Eden Project has finally found a home at Sony Pictures, with the studio picking up the science-fiction film Friday, according to a press release.

"Sony is keeping the plot details for Eden guarded by a serpent, but it is a sci-fi action film centered around two female characters. The script is also intended to be the first of a conceived trilogy," The Hollywood Reporter explained. "Sources say the deal for the spec was in the $750,000 range."

The project was written by Hodson and will have Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire as its producer under his Material production banner. Maguire's partner, Matthew Plouffe, will also be a producer on the film.

According to THR, this is the second big deal Maguire and Plouffe's production company has landed in the past couple weeks.

"[Eden's pickup] follows the sale of chess drama Pawn Sacrifice to new-fangled distributor Bleecker Street. The movie, which stars Maguire and is directed by Ed Zwick, was coming off a high-profile premiere at the Toronto Film Festival," THR said.

Even though the plot has yet to be revealed, The Eden Project centers on two female characters and will have Hannah Minghella, from Columbia Pictures, overseeing the project. According to Entertainment Weekly, although the film's writer Hodson does not have too many accolades to her name, she has already penned two scripts that landed on The Black List.

"She also penned Unforgettable, a thriller about a woman who sets out to 'make hell' for the new wife of her ex-husband that Belle helmer Amma Asante is set to direct for Warner Bros.," EW reported.

Sony is currently in preproduction on a young adult adaption of The 5th Wave, which the production company is also working on. The 5th Wave will star Chloë Grace Moretz and Liev Schreiber
