Season two of Mistresses ended last month and lucky for fans the show has officially been picked up for a third season. ABC announced the season three pick up today, which means we will get some answers to the finale's intense cliffhangers.

Season three of the scandalous show will begin in summer 2015. "Mistresses just wrapped its second season run earlier this month. It was a solid but unspectacular performer, airing behind The Bachelorette. It averaged a 1.6 rating in 18-49 (down about 10% from its first year) and about 5 million total viewers (about even)," Variety reported after the season three pickup announcement.

According to executive producer K.J. Steinberg the show's writing staff "would never have written [the Season 2 finale] to be an ending to the series. We architected it for a Season 3. And we have hope that we will get one so we can continue to tell these stories and play out these dramas," TV Line reported.

After last season's cliffhangers including, Josslyn Carver (played by Jes Macallan) fleeing her wedding and hooking up with her sister Savannah "Savi" Davis' (played by Alyssa Milano) ex husband Harry Davis (played by Brett Tucker). Karen Kim (played by Yunjin Kim) found out that she was HIV negative, but the doctor didn't exactly give her a clean bill of health and April Malloy (Rochelle Aytes) learned that her ex husband was actually dead.

Mistresses has always revolved around the group of four friends and how they deal with scandal, betrayal and secrecy while finding themselves at the same time. But next season will be all about figuring out if their friendships can last when the betrayal level is unimaginable.

"How long does it take for people to forgive after a betrayal or a transgression? And how does that path to forgiveness happen?" K.J. discussed with the publication.

"That's what I think is the interesting part and that's going to be the dramatic part to watch - if the forgiveness thing ever happens. And God knows if Joss will ever forgive herself."
