Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is the first guest editor to write for Derek Jeter's new blog, The Players' Tribune, and the NFL star reveals that he used to be a bully as a child but has since changed his violent ways.

"I used to beat people up. Truthfully, I used to beat people up a lot," Wilson admits. "Many of you readers probably think I have been Mr. Goody Two-Shoes my whole life, but honestly, I was a bully growing up. In elementary and middle school, I threw kids against the wall. I rubbed their heads in the dirt at recess. I bit them. I even knocked teeth out."

Wilson then goes on to reveal that he later became a much more spiritual person and forged a relationship with God, which is ultimately what allowed him to take a step back and learn from his actions.

Now, he says, he's using his fame to help bring attention to the issues of bullying and domestic violence, which affect everyone worldwide, but have plagued the NFL particularly hard in recent weeks.

"All I can do is my small part," he wrote. "And I invite you to help me."

Wilson has founded the Why Not You Foundation, which he says he'll be using as a springboard to raise funds for all types of charitable causes. Up first, though, is domestic violence awareness in honor of October's branding as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. He's asking everyone to "Pass the Peace."

"I can't fix the world. I can't fix the NFL. I can't change the guys around me," Russell said. "The only person I can change is the one in the mirror. I'm not a perfect person by any means. I'm just a recovering bully. But if we start being honest about our pain, our anger, and our shortcomings instead of pretending they don't exist, then maybe we'll leave the world a better place than we found it. For those of us in the NFL, there's no excuse for violence off the field."
