University of Florida quarterback Treon Harris has found himself in a bit of hot water as he is currently under investigation for an alleged sexual assault on a female student.

According to TheBigLead.com, the supposed incident occurred on the school's Gainesville, Florida, campus in a university residence hall early Saturday morning, Oct. 4. No other details surrounding the incident have been released, with the university citing legal and privacy limitations.

UF president Bernie Machen did release a statement on Monday, however, confirming Harris's involvement in the case and noting that the University plans to cooperate fully in the investigation.

"The University of Florida Police Department is investing the incident, and UFPD has brought in the Gainesville Police Department to assist with collection and analysis of forensic evidence," the statement reads. "The investigation is ongoing and we do not have an update regarding any charges at this time. The University of Florida and the University Athletic Association are cooperating fully."

According to ESPN, however, the GPD will not play an active role in filing any potential charges against Harris because the full jurisdiction lies with the UFPD.

In the meantime, the UAA has suspended Harris indefinitely from all team activities.

"We have no tolerance for sexual assault on our campus," Machen is quoted as saying. "The university is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for every member of the UF community. We must strive to protect all of our students from sexual harassment and assault, and do everything in our power to promote a safe learning environment."

Harris's attorney, Huntley Johnson, says he hopes to see the QB come away from this incident without any charges.

"We are representing him and we are cooperating with the investigation," Johnson said. "I am hopeful that he will never be arrested [regarding this case]."

Prior to the incident, Harris had been in a position to take over as the starting quarterback for the 3-1 Gators. The 5'11", 190-pound freshman had completed 4 of 6 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
