Hope Solo might have charmed the U.S. during the Women's 2011 FIFA World Cup, but now that the star is awaiting trial for domestic abuse charges it seems that her teammates are anxious about putting her on the roster for the 2015 World Cup. One of her teammates, Jillian Loyden, spoke out today saying that the league needed to respond to Solo's domestic violence charges.

"US Soccer needs to send the right message," the star explained in a column she wrote for USA Today Sports. "They need to communicate that domestic violence is never OK and that it will not be tolerated."

While Loyden views Solo as a personal mentor, she says that when it comes to an issue as important as this people need to speak out.

"Speaking out on these issues is not always easy," the substitute goalkeeper stated. "Solo is my teammate and a personal mentor. But I cannot stand by as young fans receive the message that this behavior- even if the allegations proved to be inaccurate- can go unnoticed."

As we previously reported, Hope was arrested back in June after an incident at her sister's house, where the police where called to check on a situation involving Hope, her sister, and 17-year-old nephew.

Hope is looking to go to trial in November, but this is the first member of the Women's Soccer League to ask for the program to speak out against Hope's alleged actions.

While Loyden realizes that Hope is an incredible player, she doesn't think that should overshadow her actions.

"A couple weeks ago, Hope broke an international record with an incredible 73 shutouts. But instead of celebrating the new record, the league should endeavor to post a shutout on domestic violence," Jillian explained. "Our league can no longer turn a blind eye to the allegations that Solo assaulted two family members."
