Ghostbusters 3 has been confirmed, folks! And the cast is much different looking then the original — the leads will all be female.

Paul Feig has confirmed the third installment via his Twitter: "It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call."

Feig and Dippold aren't new friends; they have worked together on the hit comedy The Heat starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

Feig is also responsible for the hit film Bridesmaids also featuring Melissa McCarthy. And lets not forget his critically acclaimed episodes on Freaks and Geeks, The Office and Arrested Development.

They are replacing former Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd in writing the third installment. Aykroyd had been writing the third script for three years, according to Rolling Stone.

What's so special about this Ghostbusters? It will feature "hilarious women," according to Feig.

Original Ghostbuster Bill Murray recently told the Toronto Star of some possible female actresses that could possibly be cast in the roles! Who did he name?

Melisa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini and Emma Stone.

The director of the first two films, Ivan Reitman, is stepping down from the movie because he says the franchise needs a fresher take, hence the all female roles.

"Having done the other two and with the passing of Harold [Ramis] and with Bill Murray seeming disinterested in being in it, I thought it was better for me just to produce it and to make sure we're going to have the quality and style of what is appropriate for another version of that film. But the franchise could benefit from somebody else's point of view," Reitman said.

The original 1984 cast starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.
