Redbook Magazine recently interviewed one of the year's biggest stars: Lupita Nyong'o. This Oscar-Award winning actress has quickly become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood! Her bold style, flawless skin and stunning features have landed her covers on countless fashion and beauty magazines, including Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and People. Earlier this year, Lupita became the new brand ambassador for French cosmetic and skincare company, Lancome.

In the interview, Lupita talked about her own approach to beauty, particularly, her hair. The actress remembers shaving her head at 19 saying, "Once I did it, it was very liberating but I also felt very naked. When you feel the wind on your scalp, it's like, Oh, my God."

Since then, she's kept the short hair, and keeps makeup to a minimum. "It's easy," she said. "As a teen, my hair caused me so much anxiety. When I wasn't happy with how my hair looked, I'd spend recess in the bathroom because I was so embarrassed."

When asked if she wears makeup every time she leaves the house, she replied, "Yes, I'll do defined brows and natural eye shadow, then I put on a plum blush, which gives my cheeks a healthy look. On dark skin, it's easy for blush to be too obvious. And I love lip balm because you can just grab it and go."

She wasn't quite as enthusiastic when asked if she likes to dress up every day. "No! I've always cared about how I look, but to dress to the nines all the time is to have no life," she said with laughter.

Lucky for us, Lupita also shared her skin care regimen. "My skin tends to be very dry, so I use avocado oil to take off my makeup, which helps keep my face moisturized. Then I use a light cleanser, eye cream, and Lancome Genifique serum, which I love because you can dab it on top of makeup too."

Lupita's must-have items include: Avocado oil; Lancôme Vernis in Love nail polish in Nuit D'Azur, ($15); Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate, ($84); Lancôme Lip Lover in Rose Contre-Temps, ($23); and Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme ($32).
