MTV's new dark comedy, Self Promotion, has its lead actress. The Last Man Standing alum Alexandra Krosney has officially landed the lead role in the new series that will be directed by Zac Braff.

Deadline learned that Alexandra will be playing Katie Preston in the series. Katie is an overworked assistant who discovers that her evil boss has gone missing. "Things get messy fast, with Katie, believing she'll be the prime suspect, covering up the crime scene," Deadline reported.

"She starts calling the shots in her boss's 'absence,' and goes full CSI to find out what actually happened and exonerate herself. Success at the office is hectic and maybe even dangerous in this darkly comedic twist on climbing the corporate ladder."

Alexandra is best known for her role on Last Man Standing, when she was on the show's first season. She was let go and replaced by Amanda Fuller for season two. According to TV Line, she was also cast in the CW's new series iZombie earlier this year, but she eventually lost the role to Aly Michalka.

Shameless actress Nicole Bloom has also been cast for the pilot as Katie's law student roommate Winter. Winter's character will help Katie through her legal problems as she is being investigated for her boss's disappearance. She is described as "a little bit naughty librarian and a little bit stoner."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Bianculli will write the original script for the pilot and Awkward's Steve Yockey will be the executive producer. Scrubs alum Zach Braff will be directing the pilot.

MTV has two other pilots in the works, Ken Jeong Made Me Do It, by Peter Segal and Scream, which is based on the horror films. MTV has also ordered a new thriller series starring Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice called Eye Candy.

"Victoria Justice is exactly someone we want to be in business with," MTV's President of Programming Susanne Daniels said in a statement. "Not only does she resonate with our audience, she has a huge fan base and is extremely talented. We are very lucky to have her."

Eye Candy is based on RL Stine's novel by the same name and revolves around Victoria's character Lindy who is a hacker that exposes terrorists and suspected killers, TV Line explained. After going on a date with someone she met online and becoming a stalking victim, Lindy teams up with the cyber-crime unit to catch a cyber stalker.
