The CW network has another teen drama up its sleeves. The network is creating a new series called Cheerleader Death Squad that will revolve around American cheerleaders.

Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids creator and executive producer Marc Cherry is teaming up with Under the Dome showrunner Neal Baer for a new action-adventure mystery drama for CW, Deadline learned.

"Described as 'Heathers meets Alias,' Cheerleader Death Squad centers on a disgraced CIA agent-turned-teacher at an elite Washington, D.C., prep school. When he realizes that his students have high-level access through personal connections, he trains a select few to be his eyes and ears into the world of international espionage and help him earn his way back into the agency," Deadline reported.

Marc and Neal will co-write the script with the help of Dan Truly, executive producer on Blue Bloods. The three will team up with Sabrina Wind — a partner in Cherry/Wind Productions — to executive produce the series.

This fall the CW released two new series: The Flash and Jane the Virgin.

"The Flash is more of a Peter Parker/Spider-Man type — geeky guy with quirks and humor despite a tragic past, transformed by weird science into a masked marvel (sorry: "meta-human" in the Flash parlance) who experiences his newfound power as more of a kick than a curse, his do-gooding an enjoyable responsibility instead of a burdensome one," Entertainment Weekly reported earlier this summer.

Jane the Virgin is about a woman who has never had sex, but winds up pregnant. Jane is played by Gina Rodriguez and gets pregnant by an accidental artificial insemination issue and decides to keep the baby.

The CW also has iZombie and The Messengers listed as "coming soon" on their site. The network also announced that The Illusionist, a period piece similar to Reign and based on the 2006 film by the same name, will be part of the CW lineup soon.

"Written by Mark Hudis (True Blood), the CW adaptation will take place in turn-of-the-century New York. It centers on a renowned illusionist who returns home from a decade in prison to find his wife married to the ruthless crime boss who framed him," Deadline reported.
