USA Network's new pilot Mr. Robot lands its lead actor. Mind Games alumnus Christian Slater will be joining the cast as Mr. Robot himself.

According to TV Line, the new pilot of Mr. Robot "centers on a mysterious anarchist (played by Christian Slater) who recruits a brilliant cyber security engineer (played by 24's Rami Malek) into an underground hacker organization intent on bringing down corporate America."

Malek will also star in the drama pilot playing Elliot, the young programmer who suffers from an antisocial disorder and therefore uses hacking to connect with people.

"He wields his skills as a weapon to protect the people he cares about. Elliot will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations that are recruiting him to bring down corporate America," The Hollywood Reporter revealed.

Suburgatory star Carly Chaikin has also joined the Mr. Robot cast as Marlene.

"[Marlene is] a chain-smoking, striking hipster who also happens to be an expert at writing malicious malware — specifically, dangerous computer worms that take down entire networks," TV Line reported in September.

The cast also includes Carrie actress Portia Doubleday as Angela, a childhood friend of Elliot's who works at AllSafe Cyber Security firm. Swedish actor Martin Wallstrom will play Tyrell, a business executive, in his first TV appearance.

Steve Golin, Chad Hamilton and Sam Esmail will be executive producers on the pilot episode. Sam will also be writing the script.

"Mr. Robot is a visionary drama. It is a very timely and relatable story that captures both the excitement and danger of today's digital world," USA Network President Chris McCumber told The Hollywood Reporter.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev has signed on to direct Mr. Robot's pilot according to Entertainment Weekly.

"The Denmark writer-director, who helped introduce one of the most iconic hackers in pop-culture history in Dragon Tattoo will helm the first episode of the potential series," EW reported.
