It's being noted by The Hollywood Reporter that veteran actress Elizabeth Norment, famed for playing the executive secretary to Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) on Netflix's House of Cards, has passed away at the age of 61. And now, those who worked on the series – including showrunner Beau Willimon – are speaking out.

The actress, who played the role of Nancy Kaufberger, died back on Oct. 13 in New York City at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Willimon, who created the Netflix-favorite, released a statement saying, "Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth's passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all."

Executives at MRC, the company that produces House of Cards, wrote, "Elizabeth Norment was a talented actress with a beautiful spirit that touched the entire House of Cards family.

Aside from her role on House of Cards, Norment gained fame from playing Judge Arlene Brewer on Law & Order as well as with appearances on noted series such as Party of Five, ER and Mad About You. Her film roles consisted of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Runaway and The Woman in Red, to name a few.

THR reports that Norment's first real taste of fame was from her performances in As You Like It and Much Ado About Nothing, which she performed at the Grove Shakespeare Festival in Garden Grove, CA. She once told the LA Times that it was because of those performances that she had worked steadily over the years.
