It looks as if the famed French comedy Envoyes tres speciaux could be getting a reboot! Ricky Gervais and Eric Bana are linked to star in the satirical comedy, now titled Special Correspondents, with the former sitting in the director's chair as well, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, Gervais will also pen the script for the film.

In the story, Bana will play a once-upon-a-time famed radio journalist and Gervais will play his technician. As Yahoo! reports, the story tells the tale of the two attempting to scheme their bosses. Bana's character is given the project of reporting on some uprising going on in Ecuador. Instead of doing so, the two fake their own kidnapping and pretend to report on the happenings. All the while they're actually sitting comfortably at a restaurant in New York City, which happens to be right across the street from their station. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't last...

Rumors of the false reporting begin to go around, which causes the two to have no choice but to sneak into Ecuador and actually find the very ones they've supposedly been reporting on.

The original film was released back in 2009, and was based on the Iraq war.

Shooting of Special Correspondents will hopefully begin this coming Spring 2015 in both New York and Vancouver.

The upcoming film won't be the first time Gervais has sat in as director. Alongside his The Office creator, Stephen Merchant, the comedian has directed the likes of The Invention of Lying and Cemetery Junction. Special Correpondents, however, will be his first solo-directing gig.

Bana was recently seen in Deliver Us From Evil. He's currently filming The Finest Hours alongside Star Trek lead Chris Pine.
