After surprisingly dropping her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste last week, Azealia Banks has just followed it up by releasing the video for new song "Chasing Time"... and it's as bonkers as you'd expect.

A typically stunning visual treat in black and white, it cycles through futuristic, interstellar and classic motifs, referencing everybody from TLC's "No Scrubs", Missy Elliot's "The Rain", Aaliyah's "Try Again", Janet Jackson's "Scream" and even Lil Kim's VMAs dress

As reported by Rolling Stone, the video is directed by Marc Klasfeld, who has helmed clips from Beyonce, Britney Spears and Katy Perry. The "212" singer, who SPIN reported had split with her record company earlier this year, after begging them to drop her in January, finally released Broke With Expensive Taste this week after a three year wait.

She also released the (awesome) video for "Heavy Metal and Reflective" in August.

Banks revealed to The Guardian this week that after she tweeted about a recording session with English production stars Disclosure and they went cold on her (in case the song didn't end up great) she wanted to fight the brothers, saying "I want to punch one of them in the face - the little one. The ugly one. I want to hit him so bad."

In the interview she also listed off problems she's had with Iggy Azalea, Perez Hilton and The Stone Roses, but imagined that her ideal audience are "English people," she explained in the Guardian piece. "Thinking people. People that listen to Stereolab and Ariel Pink. Weird, eclectic people. Smart people."

Judging from the bombastic "Chasing Time" clip - and the supremely danceable mix of electro hip-hop it possesses - she shouldn't have too many problems getting lodged in and under the cerebral cortex of everybody with the ability to formulate coherent thought.
