Monday night, Nov. 17, marks a new episode of Fox's hit series Sleepy Hollow. Before the upcoming episode, Nicole Beharie, who plays Abbie Mills on the series, is teasing what to expect and what we can learn about her character's past.

"Monday's episode is probably one of the most different episodes that you'll see in Sleepy Hollow because it's actually kind of Abbie just chasing a ghost this time. Ichabod gets a little sick, and Abbie ends up bumping into a ghost better known as her mother," Nicole told TV Guide.

With Abbie's mother coming to the show in ghost form, Abbie's past will come to the forefront of the episode this week. Without Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) as the center of the episode, we'll really see what makes Abbie tick.

"There's a legacy. A lot of people in her lineage have been fighting to get her to be this witness at this point. It's definitely something that everyone's been aware of, but she had no idea," the 29-year-old actress explained. "She grew up in foster homes and was completely disconnected from her family, so this will fill in all those little memories ... All of those things that she just thought were dysfunctional actually were supernatural and were preparing her."

Even though there won't be a lot of Ichabod and Abbie interaction this week, going forward their banter and butting of ideas will be back in full force. In fact, Nicole revealed that Monday night's episode sets them up to finally be one step ahead of the evil forces they're fighting.

"It's finally time for them to get ahead. At the end of [Monday's] episode they get the tool. They get this massive step-up for both of them. They finally have the thing to take down Moloch or stop the evil people from always having the upper hand. And from there they basically feel like there's no stopping them," she revealed to the publication.

"And by having Katrina there with Abraham and Henry, they have someone on the inside to report back to them. For the first time they have a little bit more ground in their actual mission," she continued.

Tune in Monday night to see what happens when Abbie goes it alone and Ichabod takes a back seat.
