With the return of Lisa Kudrow's Valerie Cherish-led HBO series The Comeback last week, we were curious as to how Sex and the City's Michael Patrick King was going to re-introduce Cherish's trusty sidekick and producer, Jane, into Season 2. Well, tonight's episode answered that question! Laura Silverman returned to the series, reprising her role as Kudrow's producer... with a little twist.

Kicking off with Cherish speaking about her new gig on HBO's Seeing Red, which was also created by Room & Bored creator Paulie G, on a Val-Log, it appears safe to say the actress' husband, Mark, is not too thrilled at the job. "I'm expressing concern that you're doing something that's a not so flattering version of yourself written by a drug-addicted a$$hole..." he admits. And while she understands, Cherish claims that with Paulie's rehab and drug days past him, it won't be the same situation. She also adds, "Mark, please, it's HBO."

Jumping to the network, Valerie has a meeting with the execs and is asked to bring her Comeback producer Jane (Silverman) back for some web content and "BTS" – behind the scenes – of the new series. She agrees.

Just before heading out, she's is invited to both the Golden Globes and HBO's after-party. Of course, she accepts. And with her career in her hands (hopefully), Valerie sets off to get Jane!

Despite having said no via email, Jane is visited by Valerie and her crew about working on the HBO BTS footage. While at Jane's house – which appears to be uber secluded – Valerie learns that her former producer has gone on to win an Oscar for a documentary film –– which she is currently using as a door stop. "It doesn't mean anything," Jane tells Valerie, noting the reason being that she cannot get funding for her next documentary. Of course, it's all that matters to Cherish.

Following some persuasion, and a couple of hits off a joint, Valerie gets Jane to agree to work with her on Seeing Red.

The next morning, Jane and her crew are (predictably) right back in Valerie's home. And Mark is... thrilled? Thankfully, the Golden Globes invite is enough to make him a little less annoyed. Once ready, Valerie heads on over to designer Brad Goreski to find a dress for the upcoming event.

At the Golden Globes, Cherish discovers that she's not attending the actual show, but a viewing party. Who else is there? Other than some Russion "whores," as Mark says, none other than Paulie G himself, who apparently had a little misunderstanding with the viewing party as well. "They could have said, 'You're going to a suite,'" he claims. Unsurprisingly, Cherish tries to remain positive, telling the creator they'll be inside the event next year after the success of Seeing Red

So, readers, what did you think of tonight's episode of The Comeback?
