Season 2 of FOX's hit series Brooklyn Nine-Nine continued along tonight with "Lockdown." In the episode, Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) is left in charge of the Nine-Nine precinct during a lockdown on Thanksgiving night. Kicking off with word that Captain Raymond Holt's (Andre Braugher) Uncle has passed away, Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) enters with flowers. In order to best her at the condolence game, Peralta sends an email to Holt... believing the Captain enjoys those more than gifts. Unfortunately, he sends the sentimental email from his person account, which has a somewhat (or very) unprofessional signature.

Following being reprimanded, Holt and Detective Jeffords (Terry Crews) announce they're going away to Brighton Beach for a charity event. Peralta is left in charge of the precinct. In the beginning, it appears he's one hell of a boss. All of the employees seem to be satisfied up until the very moment they're able to leave. As they pack up, Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) tosses on his backpack and out comes a brick of white powder. What is it? No one knows, which is exactly why the Nine-Nine precinct must go under lockdown on Thanksgiving!

Hazmat inspects the brick, believing it to be a hoax since a number of other precincts in the city have received similar packages. Usually, it turns out to be baby powder. Sadly... not this time.

Meanwhile, while on their way to Brighton Beach, Jeffords informs the Captain that his brother in law, Zeke, is in town. Surprisingly, Jeffords is terrified of him. Unfortunately, as Holt is told by Peralta that things are "dope" – FYI: they're not – he decides to monitor the situation and urges Jeffords to stop by his home (where Zeke is) so that may monitor the squad.

While monitoring, Holt is given the rundown. He ultimately decides that whatever Peralta opts for is the right thing, considering he did leave him in charge –– something even he can't believe he said.

Peralta then tries to figure out how to pass the time until the test results are in. Surprisingly, Boyle doing the "Single Ladies" dance does it for a while, as does a lawyer doing stand up.

Despite the fun being had, Santiago urges Peralta he start taking the position and the situation seriously. "You can't let them gang up on you. You need to man up," she tells him, ordering he alert those under lockdown that the powder may not be baking powder and they could very well be in the precinct for a while. It looks like Peralta doesn't have what it takes to run the precinct.

Meanwhile, Jeffords appears to be bonding with Zeke after making it seem as if Captain Holt is being complicated, something to Captain agrees to milk.

Switching back to the precinct, things go south quickly when a lawyer (after Peralta tells him the powder isn't baby powder) tells EVERYONE that the powder is anthrax.

That + panic = chaos!

After a quick talk with Amy, in which she again assures Peralta he needs to start acting like Captain, he does so. Looks like the young detective has it in him after all!

In the end, the powder was not at all poisonous (having been left by a fired employeed), which causes the lockdown to end and everyone to head home to their families for Thanksgiving!
