Wayne Rooney has become both loved and hated within the English community, with some fans accepting that he's one of their best ever players, and others insisting they can do much better. Rooney is also closing in on the all-time top-scorers list for his country, and he netted twice - in perhaps one of the best doubles of his entire career - as England were able to beat their arch international rivals Scotland. Will Rooney break the national record, and more importantly, can he take his form back to the Premier League fixtures next weekend... or will he even return to his former club Everton?

Rooney has been the figurehead of England's attack for what feels like forever, but for the past two years his game has changed a lot. The one-time whizkid has become the tame, less scary version of the ruthless youngster he once was. As a 16-year-old he burst on to scene for his boyhood club Everton, and he soon become a star for Manchester United and England.

Rooney continues to score, so will he be dropped or not? Of course this Rooney isn't as good as he once was, but he again scored two goals in a game that England won 3-1. That's right, his goals won the game for England. Of course Rooney has let his country down in many of massive games, but he's continued to be a constant goal threat, and a forward that defenders fear across the world, and for that reason he will remain an England player.

If Rooney's decline continues, it's believed that Everton would like him to return to finish his career at Goodison Park, so it's a win-win situation for the frontman.
