This week's episode of The Middle's was all about Thanksgiving and like most holidays in the Heck household there was a lot of drama. "Thanksgiving VI" revolved around a turkey dinner and the issues that surround running out of turkey.

The episode begins with the Hecks deciding that they should have Thanksgiving dinner at The Kings Feast, a restaurant that has an all-you-can-eat buffet. Everyone is on board with this plan except for Sue, who wishes it were at their house so they could keep their traditions like eating a pie from CVS.

Before Thanksgiving Frankie asks Axl to bring Devin Levin (played by Gia Mantegna), her hairstylist's relative, home with him so she has somewhere to spend the holiday. Axl has been avoiding this girl since he went away to college, but he finally gives into his mother's wishes.

Meanwhile Brick reveals that he is bringing his weird girlfriend Cindy to their Thanksgiving dinner and Sue is going to bring Darrin, who she thinks her dad doesn't like.

Before heading out of the house, Frankie puts on her pregnancy pants, which have now turned into her holiday pants and Sue asks her mom if Mike likes Darrin. Frankie lies to her and says he definitely does, but it is clear he doesn't.

Back to Axl, he picks up Devin by honking his horn loudly at her as she gets in wearing a beanie and baggy shorts. She is a total tomboy, but after she begins to change and takes off her shirt, Axl starts to think of her in a different light. When they get to the restaurant she shows that she is actually cool and she knows a lot about football. Even though Axl clearly likes her he tries to ignore her because he doesn't want to go out with someone his mom set him up with.

When the whole family sits down for dinner, Brick decides to stay at the toy machine and try to win Cindy a flounder fish toy because she claims she really wants it. Throughout the dinner Darrin tries to impress Mike, because Sue asked him to. Unfortunately after he gets the last piece of turkey, which is all Mike wanted, things go from bad to worse.

Mike in turn makes a big deal about Darrin taking the last turkey leg and Darrin tries to fix it by cleaning off the meat and handing it to him. Meanwhile, Devin and Axl are bonding over playing sugar football at the table and Brick is still focused on winning Cindy her toy.

In one final attempt to make Mike like him Darrin decides to have the restaurant sing to Mike for his fake birthday and bring him a mini cake. As soon as Darrin tells Sue what he did she panics because her dad hates it when people sing to him while he is eating. Before they can stop the birthday celebration, the waiters come to Mike and crown him the birthday king. Once they are done, the whole family throws Darrin under the bus and the night is ruined.

Frankie tries to give everyone a guilt trip talk and tells them that it is the holiday for loving one another. Just as she is about to get through to them, the restaurant has an electrical fire and they all have to leave. As they are standing outside, Mike tells Darrin he doesn't hate him, but he will never really like someone who is trying to take his daughter away from him. It is sweet and sad at the same time.

Meanwhile Frankie is throwing herself a pity party in the parking lot when Mike comes over and throws a snowball at her. He starts a snowball fight and it helps them create a Thanksgiving that they will always remember.

In the final moments, Axl takes Devin back to her place and he reveals that he doesn't actually have a girlfriend. He lies and says he did have one but she slipped into a coma during dinner and now he is single. It is hilarious that he is trying so hard. Devin then leans in for what looks like a kiss and grabs her bag instead. Poor, Axl comes up empty on Thanksgiving.
