Emily Blunt Talks 'Captain Marvel' Carol Danvers Movie Role Rumors: 'Into The Woods' Starlet Gushes About Phase 3 "Fan Casting," Would Love To Be Superhero Role Model

Marvel's recent phase 3 announcements revealed a pretty great female superhero project in the works: Captain Marvel. This very important comic book heroine makes for a pretty amazing film concept, with people all over the world already "fan casting" the actress to portray Carol Danvers in the title role. This week, Into the Woods starlet Emily Blunt had the chance to talk about how honored she feels for having been "chosen" by fans to lead the movie, and how she'd love to be a role model for young girls all over the world. Is Blunt the perfect star to take on the role?

While speaking with Screen Crush recently, the Edge of Tomorrow actress got the chance to talk about the "fan casting" and basically gushed about how great it feels to be "picked" by the audience in a dream casting.

Blunt called the "fan casting" concept "lovely," explaining: "It's my favorite kind of casting! I wish it was always like that."

Film Drunk points out that Emily feels great about fans wanting her to play Danvers, though she also reveals that she has no idea who the comic book character is. That doesn't mean she would turn the role down, though.

"I think, it's always for me, it's always about-and now, more so- what am I putting out there? What would be interesting for me and what would be interesting for people to see," she explained. "So, if it's an awesome part, it doesn't matter if it's a Marvel movie or a tiny movie, I'd be up for it."

When Screen Crush points out that she'd be seen as a role model and "hero for every 10-year-old girl out there right now," Blunt got excited and called the opportunity "huge."
