After last week's intense season four finale of Awkward, Ashley Rickards, who plays Jenna Hamilton on the series, is opening up about some of the biggest surprises. After her character started falling for a new man and her BFF Tamara (played by Jillian Rose Reed) got engaged, there is a lot to talk about.

MTV's season four finale left a lot for us to think about — for starters, what will happen next for Matty (played by Beau Mirchoff) and Jenna? The last time we saw him Matty had closed the Jenna and Matty chapter, but that can't be the end for Palos Hills High School's favorite dysfunctional couple.

"Listen, it's never over until it's over. Those two characters are still alive, right? That's basically what's going to have to happen for Jatty to no longer exist — someone's going to have to die," Ashley told TV Line.

"What Lacey meant is that Matty is too indecisive when the ball is in his court, and in a sense, she's right. She wants her daughter to be with someone serious, someone who's not going to mess with her head and string her along. It's right for a mom to feel territorial like that."

Jenna meeting another man (who will be seen in season five, according to the actress) isn't the only big news for the Hamilton family. Jenna's mom Lacey (played by Nikki Deloach) revealed that she is pregnant! So how will the only child deal with such a big change?

"Well, Jenna's not going to be an only child anymore, which I think is fine. When you're an only child, life rocks for a while, but then you get into adulthood and — speaking from experience as an only child — that whole thing about all the focus being on you turns into a really bad thing. It'll be good for [Lacey and Kevin] to have a screaming distraction. I'm sure Jenna will make an adorable babysitter, too," the 22-year-old star explained to the publication.

One of the biggest twists was Tamara's surprise engagement. But it is still unknown if she will actually follow through with the marriage or if it will blow up in her face. There is a lot to look forward with this story line going into the fifth and final season of the show.

"I'm hoping Jenna doesn't get too involved with that. Anytime she gets involved in other people's relationships, they start to crumble, especially when it's a friend's relationship. So I'm hoping Jenna just sticks with the party planning aspect of it," Ashley revealed. "Maybe she'll surprise us all and throw an awesome bachelorette party — as long as she doesn't rent that party bus again."
