With his caveman look and spastic outfield play and swing, whether or not Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth was reckless was really never in question.

But this is a whole new level.

Werth will serve 10 days in jail after being found guilty of being too reckless — behind the wheel, that is. USA Today Sports reports that Werth was clocked driving 105 mph in a 55-mph zone on the Capital Beltway in Fairfax County, Virginia, over the summer. The July offense also results in Werth losing his license for six months.

Werth was pulled over on Route 193 on July 6, and later that day went 0-for-3 against the Chicago Cubs, according to the Washingtonian.

The Washingtonian reports that Werth was charged for reckless driving in August, and that the charge is a misdemeanor in Virginia that can carry up to 180 days in jail.

The Beltway bad boy famously signed a $126 million contract with the Nationals in 2010 after several seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. The signing was widespread considered foolish at the time, with the Nationals mired in last place in the National League East. But Werth soon became a lynchpin of a dynamic lineup and a vital veteran presence in an emerging team's clubhouse. Washington won division titles in 2012 and 2014, ending this past season in style. Werth hit .292 with 16 home runs and 82 RBI this season, when he served mostly as the team's third hitter and starting right fielder.

Werth's other accomplishments including being named a National League All-Star in 2009 and, most recently, pioneering what became a league-wide movement to bring big, bushy breads back onto the baseball field fashion scene.

The Washingtonian reports that Werth plans on appealing the court's sentence.

He must think it's worth it.
