Superstar Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall will reportedly not take the field again this season after fracturing two ribs and collapsing a lung in Thursday (December 4) night's 41-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. During the game Marshall took a knee to the back of his ribcage and had to be helped from the field before being rushed to hospital, where he remains but in "good spirits" according to Bears coach Marc Trestman. With the Bears season in tatters and well off the pace in the NFC North, is it time for the team to think about tanking for the highest possible draft pick, and even moving on from embattled quarterback Jay Cutler?

ESPN is reporting that Marshall's season is over, saying Marshall "will not play again this season" according to what "two sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."

ESPN also says that Marshall remains in hospital, and have officially announced that they will decide what action to take on the receiver once they have more information.

"He was in very good spirits," Bears head coach Trestman said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. "He's got some healing to do, obviously, and he'll be out for the week certainly and we'll see where he is as we move along. But he had a smile on his face. He was in good spirits."

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport also tweeted that the Bears believe Marshall "has played his last snap of the season. Broken ribs & lung ailment."

The Bears officially announced, "Marshall will not play next Monday night against the Saints and his availability for the final two games of the season versus the Lions and Vikings will be determined at a later date."

After the Cowboys loss, the Bears are 5-8 and are now in line for a top 10 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. They play the New Orleans Saints, the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings in the final three games; could the Bears tank the rest of the season and look to draft a replacement quarterback for incumbent Jay Cutler, whose season has been one to forget? As Mstars News has reported, the team could also look to trade Cutler in the offseason to help speed up the process.
