A lot of fans say they want to fight Cleveland Browns' polarizing quarterback Johnny Manziel. Not a lot of fans apologize for it

But that's what a drunk Cleveland fan who approached Manziel wanting to fight did this week, a few days after the incident, his tail between his Rust Belt legs.

The fan accosted Manziel in the lobby of his residence, according to ESPN. Now that Manziel is set to make his first career NFL start Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, someone is sorry.

"I would like to apologize for approaching you the way I did," the fan, Chris Gonos, wrote on Facebook. The apology was reported by the Northeast Ohio Media Group first. "All I ever wanted was to show love and give respect. What occurred that night was a huge misunderstanding. Never did I intend to escalate an altercation."

Manziel has certainly pissed off his share of football fans since bursting onto the scene two years ago at Texas A&M. Manziel's instant success at A&M and frat-boy off-the-field lifestyle inspired haters country-wide. He comes from a rich oil family in Texas and mimes throwing dollar bills after scoring touchdowns. Hating or loving Johnny has become a national pastime, a modern hard-line debate not unlike what one might find in the Twilight movies.

This one fan, Mr. Gonos, clearly had enough. Gonos told police he was assaulted by Manziel and his entourage, according to ESPN. But nobody was arrested and Manziel wasn't listed as a suspect.

Now Gonos' tune has changed.

"I wish you the best," Gonos wrote, "and I'm ready for you to 'wreck this league.'"
