What's Oprah's ideal Christmas present? The billioniare icon last night explained how selfies are the new autograph, joining Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last night to promote the new civil rights film Selma and deliver a huge dose of Christmas cheer (in the form of free speakers for the audience)... while also revealing what to get the woman who has everything. Also taking part in Midnight Meadows — the '80s vocal effects soap opera' featuring Oprah slapping Fallon at the end of each scene — Oprah then explained to Fallon that what she misses the most from The Oprah Show is her live audience.

Ahead of the premiere for Selma, Oprah also backed civil rights protestors, saying to the New York Daily News "I think it's a wonderful thing that people are protesting,"

"I think in order for real change to happen though, you gotta figure out what it is you want. You gotta be able to answer that question. So you're not just marchin'. You're not just marchin'."

However, on The Tonight Show Oprah was all smiles, even if she was missing a part of the TV experience. "I do miss the audience," Oprah revealed, adding that she "loved" her audiences for coming form all over the country "with their friends and their mothers and their cousins" and make going to The Oprah Show "a big deal".

After giving passing on holiday missives from Tyler Perry and Audra McDonald, the Selma star told Fallon that she misses the audience interaction; she also reflected on how the nature of celebrity has changed, adding that "Nobody wants an autograph anymore," the talk show host said.

"They all want selfies! They are the new autograph."

The Selma star also revealed that her famous generosity came at a cost, saying that she wasn't able to sleep "the night before we gave away the cars!"

But Oprah was the one to finally get given a gift, with Fallon giving her "one of the best present's I've ever gotten," she exclaimed. "I'm not kidding."

The present Fallon gave her that she loved so much? "Ugly Christmas sweaters" for her dogs! "I'm going to get them all dressed up and send you the photo," she promised.

It then prompted Oprah's best Christmas tip: "If you don't know what to get somebody, get something for their dog. Anybody that gets you something for your dog, you love them," she laughed.

And, true to form (considering her reputation as the "slapping actress") she and Fallon displayed their "short lived '80s soap opera", Midnight Meadows.

In it they play "Broderick and Valentina Kensington", with their voices undergo intense vocal changes. 'Valentina' (Oprah) also slaps 'Broderick' (Fallon) at the end of each scene... and of course, in classic Fallon fashion, he breaks into a grin halfway through the sketch.

You can watch the hilarious sketch below.
