The Season 3 midseason finale of Arrow, entitled "The Climb," ended with a duel between Oliver Queen and Ra's Al Ghul, which the latter one with ease. He ran his sword through Oliver's chest and kicked him over a cliff to his death. But will this remain permanent?

The "Spoiler Chat" column at E! Online has some information about that.

"What's coming up for Arrow when we come off winter hiatus? Possibly for Felicity, Diggle or Roy.
How about all three? You know Oliver's huge death in the finale? Yeaaaah, expect that to stick as we're hearing the trio might go more than a few episodes without their hooded leader."

This is not shocking news based on what we've heard from actors and producers on the show thus far, but it at least reiterates that Ollie won't just magically pop back to life when the show returns in January.

Consider what the "Spoiler Room" column at EW.com said recently.

"Is Oliver really dead on Arrow?! - Janet
You know I can't answer that. But I can tell you that it sounds like Roy will be stepping up in the wake of Oliver's absence. 'One of the things I was very straight with Colton [Haynes] about is I don't think we serviced his character quite as much as we would have liked in the first half of the season,' executive producer Marc Guggenheim says. 'I'll say the stuff that he's got in episodes 10, 11, and 12, it's pretty dang gangbusters. There's one scene in episode 11 between him and John Barrowman that I think is some of his finest work on the show.'"

Many fans are expecting Oliver to get revived via the Lazarus Pit, the location that keeps Ra's Al Ghul alive and prevents him from aging. He remarked to Oliver in the episode that no one had challenged him to a duel in 67 years, so it seems clear that the pit exists in one form another on this show.
