The latest rumors about Star Wars aren't about the 2015 J.J. Abrams film, The Force Awakens. In case you've forgotten, besides the highly anticipated franchise reboot, Disney and Lucasfilm have planned a number of spin-off, standalone projects, the first of which hitting theaters in 2016. Directed by Godzilla filmmaker Gareth Edwards, this first spin-off is allegedly going to be about Han Solo, the character portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original trilogy and the upcoming 2015 blockbuster. Now we have our first taste of casting rumors about the role, with Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul being linked to the part!

This new rumor comes from Making Star Wars, which has been correct on a number of updates in the past. According to this news source, Paul's name is attached to the project, but there is obviously no confirmation as of yet around this rumor.

Now, the website doesn't claim Paul would play Solo, but we wouldn't exactly object to that idea. We're sure plenty of Breaking Bad fans are also Star Wars fans, so this is a great example of a dream casting. Either way, really, Paul in the Star Wars universe is pretty amazing, wouldn't you say?

Filming on this project, no matter what the subject matter, should be starting soon for its scheduled 2016 release date. So perhaps we'll get a better, confirmed update in the new year!

Io9 has collected a bunch of different rumors about this project as well. Check out more speculation right here!

So what do you think of this casting rumor? Would you like to see a Han Solo standalone film with Aaron Paul involved? Do you think Ford would have a say in this casting? Share your thoughts and opinions on this movie news in the comments section below!
