After the rumors of Wolf of Wall Street actress Margot Robbie being linked to Rupert Sanders-directed Ghost in the Shell movie adaptation were dismissed when she was cast in The Suicide Squad, a new name started circling the project: Scarlett Johansson. This week, reports have confirmed that the Avengers: Age of Ultron starlet will take on the lead role of cyborg protagonist Motoko Kusanagi, which is surely going to be nice for fans of the manga/anime and comic books in general. Should we expect an NC-17 rating though?

Variety broke the news on Johansson's casting, pointing out that her 2014 film Lucy probably helped with this casting decision. Another comic book adaptation, Lucy made around $394 million worldwide. We're sure an attractive new film project like Ghost in the Shell will be a great project to feature the rising star.

Fans of the anime and manga series are sure to point out that the protagonist, Kusanagi, runs around fighting crime wearing next to nothing. Such is the style of Japanese animation, but how will that translate to Johansson's portrayal of the character?

She isn't a stranger to nudity, though. Johansson's 2014 film Under The Skin featured some full-frontal shots of the actress, so maybe she's open to more of that?
