Florida State University quarterback Jamies Winston is entering the 2015 NFL Draft. Winston - whose 3rd-ranked FSU Seminoles lost their College Football Playoff semi-final in the Rose Bowl to Marcus Mariota and the Oregon Ducks on New Year's Day - is widely tipped to be the second overall selection in the 2015 NFL draft, behind Heisman Trophy winner Mariota. He announced his decision to leave FSU following his red shirt sophomore year today via a statement.

ESPN's David Hale reports that Winston's statement — which came from The Legacy Agency, who will rep the QB — said:

"After weighing this decision with my family and friends, I have decided to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft and forgo my remaining eligibility at Florida State," Winston said in the statement. "I reached this very difficult decision after careful consideration and long thought, realizing how difficult it would be to say goodbye to my family at Florida State. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to wear the garnet and gold and have greatly enjoyed my time as a Seminole, both as an athlete and a student in the classroom."

With ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr saying that Winston is the 2nd rated quarterback in the draft, fellow ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay has Winston going 2nd overall to the Tennessee Titans, behind fellow Heisman winner Mariota, in his first mock draft.

McShay's mock draft analysis says that Winston "has all the tools to be great on the field as an NFL quarterback," adding that his skills in "inside the pocket," and physical attributes, including "prototypical size", means he "can drive the ball downfield and to the outside hashes, and displays very good game-management skills and on-field leadership."

McShay also points out, however that Winston's "off-field behavior to this point frightens me. The Titans and any team that considers drafting him are going to have to be comfortable with what they find when they look into his past, and with his psychological testing."

CBS Sports draft expert Dane Brugler concurs, also saying Winston will go behind Mariota to the Titans with the 2nd overall pick. Says Brugler: "Despite reports that Tennessee is happy with Zach Mettenberger as the starting quarterback moving forward, it will be tough for the Titans to pass up Winston with this pick. There are maturity questions, but his ability on the football field is so impressive for a 20-year old, which is why I think a team will roll the dice on him very early."

What do you think? Will Mariota go first to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Winston second to the Titans? Would you take Winston over Mariota? Or will Winston slide because of his off-field issues?
