Homeland wrapped up Season 4 recently, and talk has now turned to how the Showtime series will proceed in Season 5. Network president David Nevins spoke on that subject and numerous others in a recent interview.

Nevins spoke about the Season 4 finale, which slowed down considerably after the intense action of the penultimate episode. "I will be honest: I was a big advocate of going back to D.C.," he said, according to TVLine. "I knew that the action climax was in Episode 11, but I think it's OK to shake it up."

"The show has always been about action and suspense, but also about the personal side," he added. "I thought it was really important for Carrie to deal with her issues with motherhood. If we had not touched on that in the last episode, the season would not have felt complete. I happened to love the final episode.... You don't always have to end with the most climactic story stuff."

Some Pakistanis were upset with the portrayal of Islamabad as a "grimy hellhole" in Season 4, but Nevins hopes the backlash does not affect Homeland going forward.

"I hope it's not considered at all. I really, really don't want there to be any limitations," he said. "They've never shied away from anything difficult."

What do you make of Nevins' remarks? How do you think Homeland should progress in Season 5? Let us know in the comments section.
