Golden Globe winner and Boyhood star Patricia Arquette wishes she could wear overalls on the red carpet, and also revealed that she paid her babysitter and dog walker more than she got paid on Boyhood, and that Meryl Streep is a world-class hugger. The Best Supporting Actress winner took to Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and also revealed that her daughter is her harshest fashion critic, and that the success of the Richard Linklater-directed Boyhood felt like "the Bad News Bears winning the World Series." The star also sees there's no reason as to why Boyhood can't continue till she dies.

"I've been kicking around long time," the actress told host Jimmy Kimmel of the reception Boyhood has seen, "and we didn't imagine any of this really, it was sort of like the Bad News Bears winning the World Series. And I'm Kelly Leak," she laughed.

"We had a really small budget so we would only shoot three-to-four days a year," she said to Kimmel, after explaining that she "paid more money to my babysitter and my dog walker than I made on Boyhood, and to be in Boyhood!" to WENN.

But that didn't matter, as she loved the concept of the movie - which was famously shot over 12 years - from day one.

Arquette loved it, "As soon as he [Linklater] called me. As soon as he told me the idea, I always knew I would love the movie. I always wanted to work with Rick, I love this sensibility about this, and I always wanted to work with Ethan. He made the exact movie he described to me the first time we talked. But I didn't know if anyone else would love the movie."

They do, and it saw her nominated and then win Best Supporting Actress, going against names such as Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone, Keira Knightley and the godmother, Meryl Streep, who she calls a "World class hugger. Add that to the list!"

Chastain was also on the show last night, and the two took a selfie backstage showing that there were no hard feelings.

As for red carpet fashion, Arquette revealed that would be much happier dressing down, saying "I'm a tomboy, so I really hate it. I want an overall red carpet. Like, 'everyone wear overalls'."

She has a less-than-sympathetic ear, though, in her daughter, Arquette laughed. "Every time I get dressed I come out and my daughter says 'you look hideous'. She's honest!"

"Once in a while I have to say 'you're right, I've gone too far.'"

Kimmel and Arquette then debated the merits of high heels: check it out below.

As for Boyhood actually coming out, both Kimmel and Arquette mused that there was no real reason why they wouldn't keep on making the movie. "I was bummed about it ending," revealed Arquette, who added that she told Linklalet "'I think this isn't a 12 year movie, this actually ends when I'm an old woman and I die,' then the movie comes out."

It echoes a sentiment that Variety reported on from backstage at the Globes.

Arquette also told Kimmel that her brother David is "funny. He has a beautiful perspective on human beings."

When asked about his unique dressing style, Arquette said "He's dapper, and I'll tell you, he was kind of a boring dresser growing up."
