The Chicago Bears will hire John Fox as their new head coach, according to reports. The NFL team have apparently settled on the former Denver Broncos head coach — who parted ways with (read: was fired by) the Broncos and their GM John Elway on Monday following the Broncos loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday — to replace former Bears coach Marc Trestman, who was let go after the season. Fox had a 46-18 record over his four years with the Broncos — one with Tim Tebow at quarterback and the other three with Peyton Manning — and went to the playoffs each year for a 2-3 record. With Fox in the fold, the Bears will be hoping he can fix their defense, but will Fox look to trade Bears quarterback Jay Cutler?

As CBS Chicago point out, "Overall, Fox has compiled a 119-89 (.572) regular-season record and an 8-7 mark in seven playoff appearances. He's one of only six coaches to lead two different teams to the Super Bowl."

The Bears — who had tried to morph to a high-powered offense under Trestman but long known for their defense — will look to Fox to fix them on that side of the ball; which, as CBS Sports writer  Will Brinson points out, Fox is quite adept as doing:

Amazingly, as ESPN Stats & Info report, if Chicago hire John Fox, "he'll become the 1st Bears head coach with previous head coaching experience since Paddy Driscoll (1956)."

And, oddly enough, at the Bears Fox will be joining fellow former Broncos in quarterback Jay Cutler and star wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

He will now try to lead the Bears — who still need to decide if Jay Cutler will be the team's starting quarterback next year or whether or not trading Cutler is the best option — back to the playoffs in the extremely tough NFC North division.

First things first though: maybe he should try to settle the beef between offensive linesman Kyle Long and tight end Martellus Bennet?
