Joss Whedon is Marvel's main man thanks to the overwhelming success of his film Avengers and the probable similar success of its sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron. That said, the filmmaker can't keep making Avengers films for Marvel, right? With the recent announcement of 2018 and 2019's Infinity War two-part sequels to the franchise, do you think Whedon will come back as director again? According a new interview with the director, he's "very doubtful" he'll return to the series after 2015's Age of Ultron.

"I couldn't imagine doing this again," he told Empire Magazine, according to Comic Book Movie.

The director went on to explain that the amount of time and effort put into the upcoming Age of Ultron has the filmmaker taking a step back from committing to more superhero films for now.

"It's enormously hard, and it be, by then, a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own," Whedon said. "So it's very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe - I love these guys - but it ain't easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers."

With Whedon almost certainly not returning to direct the film, Gamma Squad points out that Captain America: Civil War directors, Anthony and Joe Russo are currently the rumored favorites for Infinity War.

If Whedon is leaving the Marvel Universe for a while, what other films do you think he'll work on? He certainly has proven himself a great filmmaker thanks to his Avengers projects, so we're excited to see what happens! Let us know what you think of this news in the comments section below!
