Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson believes he has a higher power looking out for him; a theoretical omnipotent being who apparently created everything in existence. That's because Russell Wilson believes God cares about football. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, in a sane show of non-aggrandizing self-consciousness, doesn't agreeDisplaying a faith in a theoretical higher power, ahead of the 2015 Super Bowl against the New England PatriotsNFL champion quarterback and 2013 Super Bowl MVP Wilson has followed up his tearful thanking of the Christian God following his team's NFC championship game win over the Green Bay Packers by reiterating that his perceived holy creator cares about what happens in a game between grown adults involving a ball.

Following his team's win over Green Bay, Wilson told sideline reporter Erin Andrews "God is too good all the time, man. Everytime."

Following those post-game comments Wilson -- who, as CBS Sports report, is expected to become the NFL highest paid player -- later told Sports Illustrated's Peter King that his bad performance was all part of his special friend's plan. "That's God setting it up, to make it so dramatic, so rewarding, so special," Wilson told King. "I've been through a lot in life, and had some ups and downs. It's what's led me to this day."

But, as Sports Illustrated report, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn't agree. "Last week, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked on his thoughts on whether God plays a role in the result of games, to which he said he doesn't think God "is a big football fan" or cares about the outcome."

Wilson responded, telling reporters that "I think God cares about football. I think God cares about everything he created."

As The Huffington Post point out, about a quarter of Americans also believe that a theoretical being plays some role in helping teams win or lose a game involving some sort of physical activity. Says HuffPo, "According to a recent survey by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) and Religion News Service," around "Twenty-six percent of Americans and 27 percent of self-described sports fans believe God plays a role in determining which team will win a sporting event."

Perhaps Wilson's chosen deity -- the same one ascribed to by fellow NFL players Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson -- will help him on Sunday against Tom Brady and the Patriots. What do you think?
