It looks like The View is all sorts of messed up these days. With Rosie O'Donnell's exit and rumors of Barbara Walters making a comeback, it seems that none of the co-hosts's jobs are safe. New reports are even claiming that newcomer Rosie Perez is expected to be fired within the next couple weeks. It is being reported that the producers are looking to give the star some time before kicking her out, as to not shake things up too much since O'Donnell just announced she was leaving.
A source close to the production spoke out to Radar Online, saying that Perez is definitely going to be let go in the coming weeks.
"The plan [to fire her] is still on," an insider explained, adding, "She's absolutely gone."
"They didn't want to dump on Rosie Perez and fire her," the source continued, adding that the production team "came up with a plan to give her a graceful exit."
The "graceful exit" that they are referring to is Perez's Broadway role in Larry David's Fish in the Dark. The co-host took a month leave of absence from the talk show to fulfill her commitment for her role in the play.
It seems the execs are hoping the play will be a hit and that way they can "give her a firm push" out the door.
"They were hoping if her play was successful, she would say she couldn't do both and it would be a mutual decision," the insider revealed.
As for what they are planning on doing to replace both Rosies, (New York) Daily News says it will be the same as what they did to replace Regis Philbin on Live! With Regis and Kelly.
"They'll bring in a number of guest co-hosts for extended runs," the insider explained. They'll "try out a lot of people and bring back the leading contenders multiple times to find the right fit and the right mix for the show."
