With an ending like that, how could there not be sequels made to Fifty Shades of Grey, right? Well, fans of the E.L. James novels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed might be getting their wish, as it seems like both erotic novels will be making their transition from page to screen. The first movie based on the trilogy opened this past weekend, and it is crushing it at the box office ... and we mean really crushing it. According to Variety, the film starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan has already grossed $81.7 million domestically and opened to $239.7 million worldwide, making it the biggest opening in Presidents Day weekend history. This is our first clue that they're going to expand the BDSM universe into two more movies. I mean, they's be stupid not to, right?

Should Universal greenlight the two follow-up projects, stars Johnson and Dornan are most definitely going to be returning. Our own Christian Grey opened up during an interview on The Today Show, and when he was asked if he'd be up to do the sequels, he replied, "That's definitely the idea."

Dakota also said that she was in as well.

Not just that, but the stars have to return, as according to The Hollywood Reporter they signed a contract for all three films, should the studio pick up the option.

According to People, the next two films will further explore Christian and Ana's relationship, as they do in the books.

Fifty Shades Darker will see a former submissive of Christian return to shake things up between him and Ana, while Fifty Shades Freed will focus around the kidnapping of Grey's sister Mia by a man from the dominate's past.
