'Marvel's Agent Carter' Finale Spoilers: Twitter Reacts To Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones' Arnim Zola Shocker! [WATCH]

The first season finale of Marvel's Agent Carter arrived on ABC. As Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper)'s fate was finally decided, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) wasn't ready for the major shocker as Twitter had lots to say about the blast from the past, from Captain America: The First Avenger, Dr. Arnim Zola (Toby Jones) came back for a visit.

In our previous recap, Dr. Ivanchenko had hypnotized Roger (Whigham) and strapped a bomb to his chest. Carter couldn't stop Roger as he grabbed a gun, ran across the room, and jumped to his death. While SSR headquarters felt the shockwave of the bomb explosion, Ivanchenko unleashed Starks' nerve gas, which killed every moviegoer in the theater. Before Roger died, Peggy promised she would do whatever it took to put stop Leviathan.

In our recent recap, Peggy had to race against time as Ivanchenko hypnotized Stark to do his bidding. After rescuing Stark from death, Peggy still had the matter of Dottie Underwood (Bridget Regan). Though Peggy pushed her enemy out the window, Dottie managed to escape and is still at large.

The season finale ended on a cliff-hanger as Ivanchenko realized he was sharing his prison cell with Dr. Armin Zola (Jones), the Red Skull's right hand man. It seems like Hydra and Leviathan are teaming up to take down the SSR.

In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Michele Fazekas reveals the meaning behind the cameo, "The intent of that was that Faustus is connected to the Winter Soldier program. His research and his work in this, as Zola calls it "matters of the mind," now has a direct connection to the Winter Soldier program."
