Is Zayn Malik's time with One Direction about to come to break up? Well, it certainly might seem that way, as the 1D singer has been reportedly recording new music with Naughty Boy. That's right, Harry Style, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne's band mate has been stepping out on his friends and recording music for the "La La La" singer's second album.

But all those One Direction fans out there can breathe a sigh of relief, as according to The Mirror it appears that what the two have been working on is only a side project that Malik is doing in his spare time.

"I can't deny the fact that we have made music together," the musician said about his working relationship with Zayn. "That's music we've made for One Direction and also that Zayn is going to feature on my next album. We're making music and having fun. That is just like a side gig and I don't think there's anything wrong with it."

Accoridng to MTV, Malik's boss Simon Cowell has also given his star pupil some advice on the pairing, telling The Mirror, "I hear speculation all the time that they're going solo. My advice is they should stay together but still do things they want as a little bit on the side."

Also, it doesn't seem like the band will be calling it quits anytime soon as they have already started working on their fifth album. Zayn took to his Instagram account last week to post that the band has been hard at work getting ready to bring new music to their fans.

"One direction is already working on their 5th album! Who's excited?" the star wrote.
