With the popular dramas, White Collar and Suits, USA Network continues its stride with an exciting new thriller created by Tim Kring (Heroes) and Gideon Raff (Homeland). In an exclusive interview with MStars News, actor Ori Pfeffer and actress/singer Alison Sudol discuss uncovering DIG with their co-star Jason Isaacs that exposes history's darkest secrets

As we previously mentioned, DIG follows FBI agent Peter Connelly (Jason Isaacs), who carries his personal demons with him as he takes a job stationed in Israel. Under the guidance of his new boss and occasional lover (Anne Heche), Peter sets out to solve the murder of a young American. The investigation leads to an international mystery that delves into the Holy Land's darkest secrets.

Before the USA premiere of DIG on Thursday, March 5, at 10 pm, MStars spoke with singer-songwriter, A Fine Frenzy, and the World War Z actor about the USA show, how they created their characters, and working with the rest of the ensemble cast.

MStars News: Tell me about the character you play.

Ori Pfeffer: I'm playing Golan Cohen, who is the detective, the Israeli detective in charge of this case, this murder mystery. And I get Peter Connelly, Jason's character, to come in and team up with me to solve this thing.

Now I usually work alone because I'm this maverick detective, a take no bullsh*t type of guy, and here comes this dude, form the states, to my turf, Israel. He comes to Jerusalem, to try to help me out. So I'm not gelling with it. So we have this cultural clash, which is really interesting. For the first time, we're introducing an Israeli character on American TV. I think that's going to be really interesting to see. Just the...what's the word I'm looking for...the dynamics it creates, and the tension. And it's kind of like, it turns out to be buddy-cop. We're going through the seven stages of relationships; so that's pretty much it.

Alison Sudol: I play Emma Wilson, I'm an archaeology student on a fellowship, and I'm studying under the amazing Richard E. Grant, who plays, do you know Richard E. Grant? I'm a huge, massive fan.

And Grant plays a legendary archaeologist who's on the verge of a pretty massive find. And Emma and Peter Connelly, played by Jason Isaacs...who's fantastic...we kind of have a pretty magical night together in Jerusalem, and then we get into a bit of trouble.

MS: Tell me about working with Jason Isaacs. How did you create the chemistry dynamic with his character, Peter Connelly?

OP: Well, I was very lucky because right off the bat we had this great chemistry going on. I think it really leads and you'll see it up on the screen.

Jason is very committed and at the same time, very playful. So I love those two qualities. We can play and we can be fully invested when we need to do the work and Jason always walks around with a boom box ,and he plays music. He makes sure that the set is fun, and I think that is something, in order to do what we do, we have to free up ,and to have music around, and to have that looseness is great.

AS: Well, there's a lot to it because the character has a complicated relationship. His character has a complicated relationship.

His daughter, who we get that there's quite a lot of story behind, looks like my character. They have a similar hair color, and a similar face. So there's a grief element to the way Peter's character relates to mine.

Then we also have a strange romanticism of two Americans in Jerusalem together in the middle of the night in these incredible places. So it's a really interesting dynamics.

MS: Tell me about working on location, such as Jerusalem, and learning the language.

OP: Well, you know working in Israel for instance, was very different than working in other places. Usually when you shoot in the states, or London, or whatever, people are in some sort of revere.

They go "oh my god, what are you guys shooting?" It's very interesting. But when you go to Israel they're like Are you done yet? What are you doing?" Everybody is very opinionated and they have something to say, in a cool, good way, you know what I mean.

"That was an okay take." So you have that. And then just the ambiance of the city, you can incorporate in the shoot because you just put the camera down and there it is...life. You soak it up to the frame.

MS:: Tell me about creating the hair and look of your character. Tell me how that came about.

AS: That was, it was really sort of Tim [Kring] and Gideon [Raff]'s vision for the character and I just went with it. I didn't really understand at first, it took me a while to understand why, but I soon learned why her hair needs to be so crazy. It's part of her spirit, she goes for things, she really dives into life and so she can't have a normal hair color, it has to be bold.

DIG premieres on USA Network on Thursday, March 5, at 10 pm.
