After 13 years with Helena Bonham Carter in non-wedded bliss, visionary director Tim Burton follows-up his critically acclaimed Big Eyes with another Disney remake. Get ready for the live-action version of Dumbo and friends, including Timothy Q. Mouse and the singing Crows.

In the original animated movie, Dumbo is ostracized because of his big ears. After his mother is locked up, Timothy Q. Mouse becomes Dumbo's best friend and protector. Together they hallucinate about pink elephants and learn about the "magic feather." Using his ears to fly, Dumbo is able to become a media sensation and reunite with his mother once again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, theTransformers franchise writer, Ehren Kruger, has already penned the script. The remake will combine CGI and live action to bring the classic elephant story to life. Justin Springer, who previously worked on Tron: Legacy and Oblivion, is producing with Kruger. We'll actually see an elephant fly once this movie hits theaters, that's for sure.

The Wall Street Journal reports that details on the project are still scarce, since the project is still in the early stages of development. Walt Disney Pictures president of production, Sean Bailey, would only tell the site that any of the plans for the new "Dumbo" story would emphasize, "It's a big world." The story will be broader in scope than the original tale, which is really about a circus animal who learns how to fly.

The announcement comes out in time with the upcoming release of Disney's latest live-action makeover, Cinderella, starring Lily James (Downton Abbey) and Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) as the evil stepmother. The Batman director previously did wonders with the reimagined Alice in Wonderland.

No word when Dumbo will start production, but Variety reveals Tim Burton is currently at work with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Kim Dickens, and Samuel L. Jackson.
