'The Conjuring 2' 2016 Movie Release Date News - 'Furious 7' Director James Wan Focussed On Horror Movie Sequel - Filming Begins Summer 2015

With Furious 7 hitting theaters early next month, director James Wan has officially announced that he's finished with his work on the film and focused on his next project: the highly anticipated sequel to his new horror franchise, The Conjuring. The October 2016 release date for The Conjuring 2 gives Wan plenty of time, starting now to work on the movie, as the summer 2015 filming date approaches. This horror movie franchise already saw great success with the spin-off film Annabelle, which was a sequel, but Wan revealed that The Conjuring 2 would be a direct continuation of the first film.

"I've been working very heavily on the script, and the idea of continuing the saga of Ed and Lorraine Warren is actually very exciting," he told Collider (via Slash Film), referring to leading stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. "So the idea of going back to kind of nurture my baby that I created is part of the reason why I'm going back to do The Conjuring 2. And in some ways it'll be like a holiday break for me after this film."

Wan is definitely one of the most sought after directors and filmmakers out there, so he's even looking past this sequel and is hoping for another adventure like the one he had with Furious 7.

"While I do Conjuring 2, my plan would be to start setting up and finding that next big film that I want to jump into," he explained.
