Announced at 2015 Emerald City Comicon, IDW Publishing has announced a new comic series based on the popular Fox series. Not only are the main protagonists back in the upcoming reboot, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are also set to in return in The X-Files: Season 11

As we previously mentioned, word of mouth has been building about the revival of The X-Files. With the main leads signed on to reprise their parts, viewers are anxious for production of the 6-part miniseries to get underway. While the live-action version is getting another season, so is the comic book series.

In our MStars interview at Special Edition: NYC, Harris told us how Season 10 fits the mythology, "It's a continuation of everything in canon, so all of the above. The way that we built this, the way that we structured it, it is very much the present-day quote-unquote real adventures of newly rechristened FBI agents Mulder and Scully. It takes place however long after the second movie actually is. In the X-Files, we try not to de-age anything. It's all got its history behind it. And that's it. This is officially what is happening now to the characters and the process."

According to Bleeding Cool, the final issues of The X-Files: Season 10 will be published in June. Due to the success of the series, season 11 has been granted by IDW as well as the Millennium comic book series, which is already out in stores.

Harris tells the site what's coming up, "At the end of our giant, double-sized season finale in issue #25, Mulder and Scully will be split apart by forces that have been working against them, behind the scenes, since we launched this series two years ago. From the beginning, I wanted to bring The X-Files into a world where stuff like conspiracies and paranoia and this feeling that the forces of government and control weren't necessarily corrupt from within... but from the outside. "

On his official Twitter account, the Great Pacific scribe also shared teaser artwork and writes, "And, hey -- Check out THE X-FILES: SEASON 11 teaser artwork debuting at the IDW panel right now! #ECCC"

The X-Files: Season 11 is slated to begin in August.
