With the success of The X-Files: Season 10, IDW Publishing continues its hot streak with the comic book adaptation of Chris Carter's Millennium. With Frank Black (played by Lance Henriksen) back in action, readers will not be able to put down the incredibly suspenseful and thrilling Millennium #2, by writer Joe Harris and artist Colin Lorimer.

Based on the the Millennium TV series, ex-FBI profiler Frank Black (Henriksen) moves to Seattle to consult for a private law enforcement group, the Millennium Group. Using his mental skills of empathy, Frank senses what he knows about the serial killer's motives and sexual history. The comic book series picks up Frank's pursuit in stopping the Millennium Group after they have brought about the apocalypse.

In our MStars interview, Harris revealed if Black's daughter would have a significant role in the series,  "Jordan, absolutely, she's going to have a big role in this. Whatever Frank Black means to the Millennium Group, I think Jordan means potentially that much more. There's a lot going on on that end. You're going to have to wait and see what it is, but she's going to play a big role."

The second issue brings back Jordan, who has also gotten older and matured. Because Frank's daughter played such a big deal in the final season, I'm glad her role is given greater importance. I'm looking forward to seeing the father/daughter reunited, especially with the shocker Harris planted in the story.

Harris plays around with the signature aspects of the show, especially with Frank's surreal visions. Because Frank has aged, his visions have become harsher, as if they're trying to break his mind. What I do enjoy is the inclusion of Fox Mulder in his investigation, which creates interesting buddy cop drama.

When the narrative needs to be scary, Lorimer nails the fighting moments in his illustrations. You will definitely see the creepiest kid in these pages. Each panel is kept in low light, which enhances the thick shadows of the eerie atmosphere. In the opening pages, notice how the red and blue hues from colorist Joana Lafuente highlight the procedural aspects.

RATING: BUY IT

Whether you're a newcomer, or already a fan of the show, Millennium #2 is definitely a thrilling read. With the first and second issues out in stores now, the Millennium series will hook in readers right off the bat.
