Even though the series finale of Sons of Anarchy aired on FX, BOOM! Studios isn't done with SAMCRO by a long shot. Based on the popular crime drama, the finale ride of Jax Teller (memorably played by Charlie Hunnam) continues in the slick and pulse-pounding Sons of Anarchy #20, by writer Ryan Ferrier and artist Matías Bergara

As we previously mentioned, Bobby Munson (Mark Boone Junior)'s estranged nephew arrived in Charming and started his criminal career as a promising Prospect. Because he is Bobby's blonde, everyone had high hopes that  Dillon would eventually fit in with the motorcycle club. Unfortunately, Dillion got involved with the Mayans and sent one of them to the hospital. Debts have to be paid and sacrifices have to be made.

The twentieth issue continues from where we left of; with SAMCRO in heated trouble with the Mayans. After being let down, Juice (Theo Rossi) wants nothing more than putting a bullet in Dillion's head. It's Jax's sense of mercy towards Dillon that will actually be his downfall. The group has let a loos cannon out into the word, escalating the story into epic Shakespearean proportions.

In tone with the series, Ferrier keeps readers riveted by the violent criminal underbelly. Echoing the best aspects of the show, this critic actually felt like he was reading the script to an unaired episode. The drama plays out as the ensemble cast deals with the consequences of their morally ambiguous decisions.

On of my favorite pages is when Bergara illustrates a phone conversation between Jax and Alvarez. In one shot, we see the front and back side of Jax and Alvarez as they argue with each other.  In the background, Begara draws the the silhouettes of the ensemble cast.

RATING: MUST BUY

Ryan Ferrier's hard-edged storytelling and Matías Bergara's stylish artwork make Sons of Anarchy #20 a must-read. If you miss the TV show, this will certainly fill in the void.
