Now we know that labor can be tough, but we couldn't image that it would be this tough for new parents Jill and Derick Dillard. Not only did she cry during contractions, but he got "blood blisters" on his hands.

In a new interview with People, the new parents revealed that their contractions were complicated, even causing Derick to bleed!

"I was praying to God to give me strength," Jill, 23, recalled about the birth of her son. "I was really scared and nervous, but I was praying."

MStars News has been keeping up with the Dillard family from the day they announced that they were pregnant. Baby Israel David was due March 24, but finally arrived almost two weeks late Monday, April 6.

According to Jill, her water broke early Saturday, April 11, as her mother, Michelle Duggar, and sister Jana Duggar assisted the new mom with her labor, which was supposed to be a water birth at home. But MStars News previously reported that those plans took a turn when Jill suffered more complications resulting in a trip to the hospital and baby Israel being born by C-section.

"Jill was telling me, 'I don't know when my labor is going to start. I don't know when to think it is labor and when it is Braxton Hicks contractions,'" Derick claimed. "God answered her prayer with her water breaking because that doesn't always happen and then she knew she was in labor."

Jill, a student midwife, said: "What I love about our story is that, at the beginning, my water broke and I was really scared."

She added, "I thought, 'I have seen so many people go through this labor thing, and I know what to expect in that aspect, and I know it is going to be really hard.' I was really scared, really nervous because I was having that early labor freak-out moment. I said to Derick, 'I'm really scared, pray for me.'"

Jill recalled moments where she knew that she was in pain, but thanked God for the feeling that she was having because she knew at the end there would be joy.

"I had been praying for contractions and when contractions did start, God made me grateful for those contractions," the new mom explained. "When they came, even though they were really intense, I was crying, but I was saying, 'Thank you for this contraction God, this is what I prayed for, thank you for this.'"

Derick added, "Though we were planning on a home birth, we were grateful to have the option of being in the hospital."

Jill revealed that she had a supportive husband, even if that meant he, too, suffered pain.

"Derick had blood blisters on his hands from doing a hip squeeze during labor," Jill revealed. "No one could do it as well as he did, and when the contractions were intense, I would call him back."

Derick admitted that he was nervous, but got over it to help his wife stay calm.

"I would say, 'Think about being on the beach on our honeymoon, just think about this one contraction, don't think about the future ones,'" the new father explained. "I would tell her not to think about the pain right now."

MStars News previously learned that the couple spent their honeymoon in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. That's more than likely where baby Israel David was conceived.

"Derick would say, 'You're going to get to see him, you're going to get to see him, the pain won't mean anything, just one contraction at a time,'" Jill said about her husband. "He did such a great job."

How sweet. MStars News is glad that the family is doing well after a dramatic labor and delivery.

The new family also has other news to be excited about! Jill's brother Josiah Duggar is now courting a young lady named Marjorie Jackson.
